CLASS OF 1970
Before you reach for that DELETE key, let us assure you that this is not a chain letter, a promotional offer for Scandanavian anti-aging secrets, or an invitation to join AARP.
What you are reading is your official invitation to a birthday party--OUR birthday party!
That's right. Every member of the Stagg High Class of 1970 will turn 60 this year. It's a red letter date that will be celebrated with family, friends, and workmates (in some cases, cellmates) and we want to take this opportunity to add a little icing on the cake.
On November 3 we will be gathering at Elkhorn Golf and Country Club in Stockton (site of our last reunion) to look back on those very special years through the eyes of some of our oldest friends.
There will be old photos, oldies music, and aged cheese. You'll hear familiar stories, slightly fudged reconstructions, and outright lies. You'll see docs, jocks, bobby sox, and dreadlocks--a little something for every taste.
This is an event where the organization, legwork, and initial funding has all been undertaken by people who misremembered math equations, misinterpreted historical events, misspelled "vacuum", and missed class on occasion.
In short, we're throwing this party for ourselves and judging from the enthusiastic responses we've received so far, it's an event you won't want to miss.
Here's what you need to know:
WHEN:
Saturday, November 3, 2012 | 6 pm to midnight
WHERE:
Elkhorn Golf and Country Club
http://www.facebook.com/elkhorngc
HOW MUCH:
$35 per person or $60 per couple
In order to keep the cost down, we've decided against a sit-down dinner. Food stations serving catered hors d'oeuvres will be located around the room and beverages of all kinds can be purchased at the bar.
The DJ will take requests, but you can help build his play list by including your 3 favorite songs with your payment.
HOW DO I PAY:
We need you to pay in advance for two very good reasons: Most importantly, it tells us that you're coming, but it also provides the caterers and service staff with a much-needed head count.
In order to make this as easy as possible we've created 3 options:
1) Paypal
You can click on the link below and use the account we've set up in our class name.
http://www.paypal.com/ Send your payment to: stagghighclassof1970@gmail.com
Indicate that this is a payment for "services"
2) Check or Money Order
If you prefer the postal option, send a check or money order payable to Stagg High Class of 1970 to P.O. Box 692621 Stockton, CA 95269-2621. We've set up a checking account for this event with Bank of the West.
3) Credit Card or Cash
The third option, generously provided by our classmate, Rick Johnson, is to stop by West Lane Bowl (Rick is the manager) and swipe your card or pay with hard currency.
You can also pay at the door the night of the party without an additional charge, but sending your money in advance makes life on the organizational end a whole lot easier.
Before you click on the Paypal link or grab that checkbook, here are a few more important notes:
1) *****tails and Conversation (Pre Party to those of you still receiving your fraternity/sorority newsletters)
Friday, November 2 6 pm to ???
We've reserved space in the first floor bar/lounge at the Hilton Hotel on March Lane for an informal gathering. It was great fun two years ago, so stop by, have a drink, and get the weekend started off right.
2) Accomodations for Out-of-Towners
We've arranged for the Hilton to provide a block of rooms at a slightly discounted rate to anyone in our class. If you're interested, use the following information when making your reservations:
Group Name: Stagg High School 1970 Class Reunion
Group Code: STAG70
3) Show and Tell
Grab anything that still tugs at your heartstrings--old photos (going back to elementary school), dance announcements, Stagg Line articles--and bring it with you to the party.
4) Cameras
We plan to assemble a collective, on-line photo album for this gathering so bring your camera or use your phone.
5) Facebook
We joined Facebook to create an information kiosk and a communication tool, not only for this event but for any activity going forward.
You can find us at: StaggHighclassofNineteenseventy
Updates will appear as new information develops.
6) Spread the Word
The most challenging task for any class is staying in touch. Not having contact information for all our graduates, we need your help. Please reach out to anyone with whom you are still in touch and forward them this information if they haven't yet received it.
7) Questions
Well, that about covers the basics. If you need additional information you can send us an e-mail (stagghighclassof1970@gmail.com), give us a call (George Kosich 209 463-8462 or Glen Ybarrola 209 952-5712), or check out the Facebook page.
See you in a few weeks!
